Turner Biodiesel sent in these incredible pictures of a trailer that they built for the Chippawa Valley Technical College. It’s a complete rolling Biodiesel production facility! Starting with grain at one end and ending with finished Biodiesel at the other!
Running at full capacity, it’s set up to process 70 gallon batches per day.
The demonstration trailer includes:
A 1/4 ton seed bin, 4 ich auger with speed control, camalina seed, 40 kg/hour seed press, 6,000 rpm centrifuge, 5 micron sock filter housing, 100 gallon fresh oil tank, 70 gallon Biodiesel processor, 4 dry wash towers; 2 with BD Zorb & 10 micron filter & 2 with DW-R10 Dry Wash Resin and 2 Micron hydroglass filters, a 100 gallon finished Biodiesel tank with a digital meter and auto shut off nozzle, and a 55 gallon glycerin storage tank. The floor is Rhino lined as well.
Here’s the exterior of the trailer:
This is the incoming grain bin. It can hold 1/4 of a ton of Camalina seeds.
Looking down into the grain bin:
The seed travels up a 4″ auger that dumps the seed into a 40 kg/hour seed press.
Here’s a shot of the seed press:
After the seed is pressed, the oil is fed into a 6,000 RPM centrifuge. This is the same one we carry. The speed is controlled by a speed controller mounted inside a control box shown below:
Here’s some shots of the seed press & centrifuge:
It is then fed into this 5 micron sock filter assembly:
The filtered oil is then fed into a 70 gallon Biodiesel reactor where it’s reacted into Biodiesel.
The reacted Biodiesel then goes through 4 dry wash towers.
The first 2 towers have a wood cellulose media called BD Zorb in them. The second set have ALX DW-R10 Dry Wash Ion Exchange Rein in them. The finished Biodiesel is then pumped into a 100 gallon finished Biodiesel storage tank.
The trailer also has storage tanks for glycerin and filtered, ready to use vegetable oil.
The whole operation can be powered by a 5500 watt diesel generator powered by, yep, you guessed it…Biodiesel made from the trailer!
Talk about an amazing showpiece! We’re extremely jealous!
