The Perfect Companion For A BioPro 150,
190, or 380 Automated Biodiesel Processor!
Produced by Springboard Biodiesel, the same company that manufactures the famous BioPro line of processors, these dry wash towers are the perfect addition to your Biodiesel production environment! Made from high strength steel and powder coated to withstand the harshest Biodiesel setup, these towers are ready for action! As with the BioPro line of processors, these towers were designed to be easy to use, easy to operate, and deliver great results all at the same time! Due to the compact design, and the Patent Pending ThetaLock technology, these towers are extremely simple to set up and use with practically any Biodiesel processor available.

The media, when used in conjuction with the Spring Pro T76 Dry Wash Towers, allows for Biodiesel to be washed much faster than using water washing. To do this, the towers come stock with Eco2Pure dry wash media in one tower and Thermax T-45 Macroporous Resin in the other tower. A pump then slowly pumps unwashed Biodiesel through the Eco2Pure and then through the Thermax resin. The Eco2Pure and Thermax work together to remove the residual glycerin and soaps left from the Biodiesel production process. The final result is Biodiesel that is free of soaps and glycerin. This cleansed fuel is then pumped out of the towers and into a vessel of your choice. Tutorial Video On Dry Washing Dry Washing Basics When dry washing, it's important to do a few tests to ensure your fuel is converted and ready to be washed. Dry washing can mask poor conversion fuel because emulsions don't occur. It's also difficult to know when dry wash media has been exhausted just by using looking at the fuel. This is because soap can easily dissolve into Biodiesel and in some cases won't effect the clarity of the fuel. To ensure best results, here's some tests we recommend be performed on a regular basis. We offer a Biodiesel Conversion Test Kit that will allow you to quickly determine if your Biodiesel is well reacted or not. We also have a Tutorial Video that shows how this test can be performed. 2) Test Biodiesel for soap content both before and after dry washing through the towers..
Daniel Bowen from Springboard Biodiesel shows how to
properly perform a soap test on Biodiesel. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DRY WASH SYSTEMS Ion Exchange resins, such as Purolite, Thermax, Amberlite, and others, as well as absorbent media, such as Magnesol and Eco2Pure, effectively remove trace amounts of glycerin, soap, and ionic compounds. They are not, however, effective at removing residual methanol. Typically, unwashed biodiesel will contain 1-1.5% or higher residual methanol by volume. If this is not removed, the biodiesel will not comply with ASTM D6751. ASTM D2887, ASTM D2887M, EN14110, ASTM D93, and ASTM D613 are all sections of the ASTM D6751 standard which may be adversely effected if residual methanol is not removed from the finished fuel. Bottom Line: Neither the SpringPro T76, nor any other dry wash column system constitutes a complete purification solution for unwashed biodiesel. To achieve ASTM D6751 compliance, a drywash column system must be used in conjunction with demethylation. To sufficiently demethylate raw biodiesel, it must be subjected to conditions equivalent to 180 degrees Fahrenheit and 60 torr. Springboard Biodiesel will soon be introducing a continuous flow demethylator/dehydrator to address this need. The drywash media supplied in the SpringPro T76 is NOT adversely affected by the presence of residual methanol, and in fact, we suggest running raw biodiesel through the SpringPro T76 before demethylation. In the absence of a demethylation system in place, it is possible to reduce amounts of methanol in raw, unwashed Biodiesel by utilizing the 5% Pre-Wash Method. Details can be found by clicking here. Simple To Use When Springboard designed the Spring Pro T76, they researched several ways to make the dry wash towers simple to use, easy to maintain, and easy to refill. Out of this research was born the new patent pending Theta-Lok technology that allows each column to easily tilt 40 degrees.
By using the Theta-Lok technology, it allows the bottom of the towers to elevate making
it much more easy to unload spent resin through the bottom ports of each of the the dry wash columns.
