1982 VW Vanagon Diesel - "The Mighty Blue Snail"I bought this from an 80 year old man. It had been sitting in an auto body yard for over 10 years straight. The weather wasn't too kind to it and it had a lot of oxidation.We couldn't get it to start & stay started when we picked it up, but once home all it needed was a new fuel line and a new fuel filter (both were leaking). After a few sputtering starts, the engine smoothed right out and came to life. I drove it and was incredibly amazed at how slow it is. Not that it doesn't have a strong engine or good pickup, but there's just no top end speed. It's geared REALLY, REALLY low!! I took some video of it. They're linked below.
