In testing, we found using the 500 mL glass hydrometer cylinder to be much more stable and extremely simple to take readings through. It's also larger than the Basic Kit jar so it can hold more methanol. The armored thermometer was also nice to use as well as it's a little more accurate.

The heavy duty all-marble stand is 12" long by 6" wide and stands 1.25" high. It includes rubberized feet to keep it securely in place and weighs over 5 bls just by itself; which provides an extremely stable surface for conducing methanol purity tests on. The included clamp is fully adjustable with a clamping grip of up to 2.5". The length of the clamp can also be adjusted to ensure it has just the right reach. The clamp can be swiveled 360° to hold things at any angle and can be attached to the rod at any point, which means it's extremely versatile for other uses as well such as titrating oil, performing soap tests, or even measuring pH with a portable pH meter.

As with our other methanol test kits, our ultimate kit also comes with the same, accurate hydrometer and with a full set of instructions for how to perform purity tests on methanol with great precision.
