ArborPure is a premium cellulose fiber based dry wash media that can be used to reduce
soap levels in Biodiesel. It's made from a special mix of premium hard woods that
have the ability to retain large amounts of soap and other contaminants commonly found
in reacted Biodiesel prior to being washed.
ArborPure can be used to compliment your existing purification system while allowing for
a reduction in overall purification costs. The frequency of replacing the spent media will depend
on the level of impurities in your biodiesel, the amount of biodiesel treated and the size
of the purification column used. A good estimate for home brewed Biodiesel is that 8 lbs in
a 6" column will treat approximately 200 gallons of raw Biodiesel.
How It Works
Specialty formulated cellulose fibers are mixed in just the right combination to absorb soap from Biodiesel as
it's passed through the ArborPure. The special mix of fibers have been
optimized for maximum soap retention. ArborPure is a great alternative to other cellulose based
media on the market and is extremely price competitive.
Why It's Better Than "Plain Sawdust"
ArborPure is different than sawdust that you might find at a local cabinet shop. ArborPure has been kiln dried,
contains only hard woods, and has been mixed to the perfect ratio of wood chips to saw dust.
It undergoes a special quality control process when it's produced to ensure you get the best mix possible.
Because it's only made from high quality hard wood fibers, it also won't add any acids back into the Biodiesel
like soft-woods such as pine wood can do.
Using ArborPure
Like other Biodiesel dry wash cellulose media, it works best when it's teamed up with a high quality
dry wash resin such as Purolite or Thermax. ArborPure
works to remove the gross soap levels while the resin media lowers the soap levels even more.
When used properly, raw Biodiesel can successfully be cleansed of nearly any detectable soap levels.
How Well It Works
Just 8 lbs of ArborPure in a 6" Dry Wash Tower can remove soap from approximately 200 gallons of home brewed
Biodiesel bringing it to ASTM soap levels. That's about 700-800 gallons from a 30 lb bag.
Your results may vary depending on how much soap you produce in each batch.

Over 97% Drop In Measurable Soap Levels!
In tests performed by Arbor, soap levels were significantly reduced by running Biodiesel
through ArborPure. Measurable soap levels went from 1875 PPM of soap down to 45 PPM of soap. That's a drop of
over 97%.
How Long It Will Last
If typical soap levels are at 1,000 PPM or below before going through ArborPure,
1 lb of ArborPure will typically treat roughly 22 gallons of Biodiesel.
Examples:
- 30 lbs ArborPure - treats roughly 750 gallons
- 60 lbs ArborPure - treats roughly 1320 gallons
- 90 lbs ArborPure - treats roughly 1980 gallons
- 150 lbs ArborPure - treats roughly 3300 gallons
- 500 lbs ArborPure - treats roughly 11,000 gallons
- 1000 lbs ArborPure - treats roughly 22,000 gallons
Getting The Right Amount
ArborPure is available in 30 lb bags or in pallet loads.
Here's a general guideline for sizing how much you might require. A good estimate is
that a cellulose tower will hold approximately 14 lbs of ArborPure per cubit feet of space.

Tower Sizing
6" x 48" Cellulose Media Tower
- Media: 8 lbs ArborPure
- Flow Rate: Up to 18 gallons per hour
- Treats: Up to 200 gallons
12" x 48" Cellulose Media Tower
- Media: 30-35 lbs ArborPure
- Flow Rate: Up to 100 gallons per hour
- Treats: Up to 1250 gallons
16" Cellulose Media Tower
- Media: 150 lbs ArborPure
- Flow Rate: Up to 300 gallons per hour
- Treats: Up to 3800 gallons
Flow Rate Recommendations
ArborPure's flow rate can be much higher than dry wash resins, therefore, if ArborPure
will be used with dry wash resins, simply set the flow rate for the dry wash resin. If using
ArborPure by itself, simply refer to the flow rates above.
